Cell Phone re-cycling

Cell phones nowadays are essential in the life of most of us. As technology progresses and more features been added to cell phones, more people upgrade to the latest and greatest models on a fairly regular basis. But, what happens to their old cell phones? They either sell it off, or worst, they become trash. Here's the worst part of all. Cell phones are more than just a garbage. They are potencially hazardous waste. They contain lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic. If throen in the thrash and send to incinerators or landills, environmental contamination can occur from combustion and leaching into soil and underground water. Aweeeeeeeee....
It will be great if there's a program for us to recycles old used cell phones. So far, I only found out that Nokia has the initiative by putting up a touch screen machines where people can drop off old phones for recycling . Not only that, the machines also accept broken phones for servicing. For more information on the machine or where you can find them in Malaysia, just go to NOKIA website. Too bad that they don't have it in Borneo folks. Maybe I can set up a phone recycling booth whenever we do our VML event eh..?
